Said to be developed around the vast industrial and cultural shifts that characterized the MeijiPeriod of JapaneseHistory. Such food was originally introduced to create versions of WesternFood which were palatable to the audiences of the day, who were acclimated to a traditional JapaneseDiet high in SoyProtein, Fish, and Rice.
