A stringed MusicalInstrument popularized chiefly during the RenaissancePeriod of history. Its gentle, lilting Music was often heard in Courts, on the Streets, and in the home. A great wealth of Composition for this instrument exists on the record, among them a suite of famous Works by the Composer JsBach. An intimate cousin is the MiddleEastern Ud, used in a great deal of IslamicMusic. Much of the early history of woodworking and musical culture of the lute is now lost, but Historians continue to uncover striking details.
